Section 1: Introduction
Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Eko, operated by LAB90 LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our page monitoring service ("the Service").
Eko is designed with privacy in mind. We monitor only publicly accessible webpages — never pages behind logins or pages containing personal information. We store content hashes for change detection, not full page content. We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising cookies.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Section 2: Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used for account authentication and notifications
- Display name — shown in your account profile
- Timezone — used for notification timing and digest scheduling
2.2 Usage Data
As you use the Service, we collect:
- Tracked pages — the URLs you add to your monitoring list
- Tracking notes — optional context you provide about why you're monitoring a page
- Folder structure — how you organize your tracked pages
- Notification preferences — your alert settings, including digest and Urgent page configuration
- Usage patterns — features used, pages visited within the app, and general interaction data
2.3 Page Content
When monitoring pages you've added, we process:
- Content hashes — we generate cryptographic hashes of page content to detect changes. We do not store full copies of monitored pages
- AI-generated summaries — when changes are detected, our AI generates summaries describing what changed. These summaries are stored in your account
- Screenshot captures — before/after screenshots are taken for visual comparison. These are stored temporarily and associated with specific change events
Key point: Eko stores content hashes, not full page content. We cannot reconstruct the original page from the data we store. Our summaries describe changes in your own words — they are not a substitute for visiting the source.
Section 3: How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the Service — monitor your tracked pages, detect changes, generate AI summaries, and deliver notifications
- Send notifications — email alerts for changes, daily digests, and Urgent SMS alerts based on your preferences
- Improve the Service — analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve monitoring accuracy, AI summary quality, and noise filtering
- Maintain security — detect and prevent abuse, unauthorized access, and fraudulent activity
- Communicate with you — send service-related announcements, security alerts, and support responses
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell your data to third parties.
Section 4: Data Sharing
We share your information only in these limited circumstances:
4.1 Service Providers
We use trusted third-party services to operate the platform, including:
- Cloud infrastructure for hosting and data storage
- AI providers for generating change summaries
- Email delivery services for notifications
- Payment processors for subscription billing
These providers process data only as necessary to provide their services and are bound by data protection agreements.
4.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
4.3 Business Transfers
If Eko is acquired, merged, or sells substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Section 5: Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest
- Row-level security in our database ensuring users can only access their own data
- Regular security reviews of our infrastructure and code
- Access controls limiting employee access to user data
No system is perfectly secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Section 6: Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Export — download your tracked pages, change history, and summaries from your account settings
- Opt out of marketing — unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time (service-related notifications like security alerts are not optional)
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@eko.app or use the relevant options in your account settings. We will respond to requests within 30 days.
Section 7: Cookies
Eko uses only essential cookies required for the Service to function:
- Session cookies — maintain your logged-in state
- Security cookies — protect against cross-site request forgery
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. We do not participate in ad networks or cross-site tracking.
Section 8: Children's Privacy
Eko is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@eko.app and we will delete the information.
Section 9: Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
